Mr. Salvatore F. Rizzo

October 21, 1928 - March 22, 2020

UTICA - Mr. Salvatore F. Rizzo, age 91, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Masonic Care Community with those he loved most in his heart. Born in Utica on October 21, 1928, Salvatore was the son of the late Salvatore, Sr. and Anna (Carone) Rizzo. He was raised and educated locally. At one time, he was married to the former Cheryl G. Bailey who passed away in 1994. Sal worked as a self-employed radio repairman in the Utica area. He was a gentle, sweet, caring man who greeted people in a kind manner and took a personal interest making them feel at ease and in a friendly frame of mind. He loved all types of music, from Disco to Big Band Era. And he loved sharing it with his fellow residents by “blasting it”! He also loved old, classic movies. Sal honored his Italian heritage and traditions and was a very spiritual, faithful man. Sal leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Cindy Rizzo; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Chuck Summa; grandchildren, Sarah Rizzo; and Alex Seeley; and his many friends and dedicated staff at the Masonic Care Community of CNY with whom he held a camaraderie and closeness. The family will honor and commemorate Sal’s life at a private time. Due to current health concerns and in keeping with state and federal regulations, funeral services and Entombment in Calvary Cemetery will be held privately.
