Mr. Robert Lee "Raleigh" Liggins

August 9, 1960 - August 19, 2020

UTICA - Mr. Robert Lee “Raleigh” Liggins, age 60, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 when he passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home. Born in Oxford, Mississippi on August 9, 1960, Robert was the son of the late Olivia Liggins. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1979. Robert began his employment working for many years in maintenance at local facilities including Broadacres, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and lastly, at Focus Nursing & Rehabilitation, until the time of his illness. He had also worked at Smith’s Laundry & Dry Cleaners. Raleigh was friendly and well-known, and he always had a crowd on his porch. His lively sense of humor made him a fun guy to be around. He loved the outdoors, where he was always at the grill cooking up a summertime barbecue for family gatherings, or fishing, especially with his brothers. He was most proud of his daughter Olivia, a precious pearl of a daughter who he named after his own mother, …he had 2 Olivia’s in his life. Raleigh was a God fearing man, and recently he began reading the wisdom of the Bible. Raleigh is survived by his daughter, Olivia Liggins; his grandchildren, Hanna Gabriella Liggins, Ty’annah D. Liggins, and Kalif E. Liggins; his siblings, Edna Clark, Rose Liggins, William Liggins, James (Debra) Liggins, Charlene (Chris) Boykin, John (Tamera) Liggins, and Edna Martin. He was predeceased by his siblings, Willie C. Liggins, and Emma Christine Liggins; and his companion, Catherine Ryan. He also leaves his cousins, especially Lee F. Liggins; a host of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and the blessing of many friends in the community who adored and loved him. He was preceded in death by a host of aunts and uncles Visitation will be held Friday afternoon from 4:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Due to the current restrictions, we will be operating at a limited occupancy. We ask for your patience as we try to accommodate those coming to support the Liggins family. We will only allow ten people into the building as ten people exit. Face masks must be worn and contact tracing will be implemented. Robert’s funeral service and Home Going celebration will commence on Friday afternoon at 5:00 immediately upon conclusion of visitation. Please take a moment to connect with Raleigh’s family through the “Memories” section of his obituary. Our prayers go out to all as a sign of our continued support.
