UTICA – Mr. Pedro Rivero, age 72, passed away on Tuesday night, March 29, 2022, with those he loved most in his heart. Pedro was born in Cuba on May 20, 1949, but left as a young man in order to come to the US and escape the Castro Regime. He arrived in NYC and promptly met the love of his life and his life partner, Carmen Melendez, with whom he relocated to the Utica area. Pedro was blessed to share 35 years with Carmen before her passing on June 19, 2019. A good man, Pedro took loving care of his beloved Carmen, as she did of him. Their relationship was one of mutual respect, love, and affection. Pedro also held a special bond with Londyn Robinson; he loved being a great-grandfather to her. Pedro enjoyed frequenting the El Barajo Restaurant, and especially appreciated dining with his loved ones. Pedro is survived by his companion’s daughter, Ana M. “Lily” Colon and her family; his companion’s daughter, Victoria Nunez and her family; his companion’s son, Efraim Rodriguez and his family; his companion’s daughter, Hilda Rodriguez and her family; his special friend, Carmen Cardona, as well as his close friend, Arturo. The family will honor Pedro’s life in a private gathering.
