November 3, 1944 - November 22, 2021
DEERFIELD - Mr. Paul A. Ciruzzi, age 77, passed away after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer on November 22, 2021; he passed with those he loved by his side. On November 3, 1944, Paul was born in Utica, to the late Anthony and Mary (Paratore) Ciruzzi. He grew up attending Utica schools and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1963. Paul attended college at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then returned home finding his true calling as a sheet metal mechanic. On June 3, 1967, Paul married his wife, Jeannie. The couple shared a long and devoted union for 54 years. Paul was always proud of his hard work as a sheet metal worker from the age of 20 until his retirement. He worked the entirety of his career as a loyal member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 58. Paul was a born leader. His work ethic was both admirable and impeccable, beginning at the early age of 13 when he started painting houses. He could fix anything with duct tape, sheet metal or something from his unending stash of spare parts. Paul loved watching Notre Dame football and treasured his time at the university in South Bend. He also loved fishing for bass at the family’s summer home on the St. Lawrence River, and even won many trophies in the local annual fishing contest. He especially loved fishing with his grandsons Jake, and Joey Malecki. Paul was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He was constantly proud of all the accomplishments of his daughters and grandchildren. Paul leaves behind his wife Jeannie; daughters, Michele Ciruzzi Reilly of Plainfield, IL, and Paula Jean and Jeff Malecki of Cicero, NY. Paul had a very special bond and relationship with his granddaughter, Courtney Comenale, but was equally proud of all of his grandchildren: Kayleigh Reilly of Bloomington, IL, Madison Reilly of Orlando, FL, Courtney Comenale and Austin Perry, Jacob Malecki and Joseph Malecki. He leaves his brother, Joseph Ciruzzi; a special nephew, Vincent Ficchi who was like a son to him; and niece and nephew, Regina and John Panzone. He also leaves two very special friends – Walt Zylka of FL who was his fishing mate, and work partner Don Keck. Always close to his heart were his canine buddies, Bronco, Kasey, Rocco, and Oscar. A very special thank you is extended to Jeff Hill for all your help, patience, and understanding with Paul this week. We couldn't have done it without you. Paul was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Sylvia Salamida; his sister and brother-in- law, Philomena and Vincent Ficchi; and niece, Maria Tedesco. Please omit floral offerings. Those desiring may make a donation in Paul’s memory to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department online at http://www.deerfieldfire.org/donate.html; envelopes will also be available at the service. The family will honor Paul’s life privately. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Paul’s Mass of Christian Burial which will commence on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., Utica. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Masks are suggested. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
