UTICA/SALINAS, PR - Mr. Norberto Rosado, age 68, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 due to COVID-19. His passing occurred at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare with his loving family by his side. Born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on October 9, 1952, Norberto was the son of the late Teofilo and Carmen (Tolentino) Rosado. As an infant, he moved with his family to the United States where he has since resided. He attended T.R. Proctor High School. On November 8, 1975 he married the former Donna Marie Luckina with whom he shared 45 years in a loving union. More recently, Norberto was employed as a custodian at Utica College in the Maintenance Department up until his illness. At one time, he held a position with Utica Disposables. Generous of heart, he was devoted to the needs of those he loved. He was a man who took the role as patriarch of his family seriously. He also had a tremendous sense of humor, always joking and kidding around. He loved to make people laugh and smile. A very active and athletic man, he enjoyed weightlifting and you would often see him in the neighborhood playing football and baseball with the children. He was an avid runner, and he never drove. He walked wherever he needed to go. Norberto is survived by his wife, Donna; his children and their loves, Tina M. and Donald Bailey, Carmecita Rosado and Rick Reed, Angel and Anita Luckina, and Norberto Rosado, Jr.; his grandchildren, Donald and Cheri Bailey, Daniel and Alexia Bailey, Nykeeha Robinson, Rasheen Robinson, Ricky Reed Jr., Romelo Reed; and Grace Luckina. He mourned the loss of a grandson, Elijah Sharma. He also leaves behind his eight great-grandchildren; his sisters, Emma Rosado, Carmen Rosado, Noemi Geigel, and Carmen Ayuso; brothers, Teofilo Rosado, Alfredo and Marguerite Rosado, Francisco Rosado, and Israel Rosado; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Raymond and Shirley Luckina, Robert and Nancy Luckina, Claudia Trad, Cathy Luckina, Karen and Paul Kennedy, and Darlene and Howard Lowenkoph; and his many special friends, especially acknowledging those he made at Utica College; and Chip, his canine companion and compadré. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Donald Luckina, and Hank Trad. The family sends their heartfelt appreciation to the 3rd Floor staff and the ICU personnel at St. Luke’s Healthcare for their care and compassion while tending to Norberto Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13th from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Norberto’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday evening, January 13th at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation. Social distancing and registration for contact tracing will be implemented. Also, a mask covering your nose and mouth will be required.
