Mary A. Evans

May 15, 1936 - January 10, 2021

NORTH UTICA - Mary A. Evans, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in the comfort and good care of the Abraham House in Rome. Born in Utica on May 15, 1936, Mary was the daughter of the late Thomas and Clara (Ohl) Evans. She was raised and educated in Utica. During her working years, Mary was employed as an office associate at the Mohawk Valley Oil Company in Rome. She later held a position at Price Chopper in North Utica. Mary was an avid bird watcher and provided food for them so they might return for her to gaze upon. She was a Cleveland Indians baseball fan who was known to drop everything to watch their games. A serious reader, you could always find Mary with a book in hand. Through her own spirituality, she knew the Lord. Mary is survived by her son, Scott Sbaraglia and partner Daniel De Blasio; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ed Owens; and brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas Evans, and Lyle and Sandy Evans. She was preceded by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Evans, Howie and Joan Evans, John “Buck” and Mary Evans, and Evelyn Evans. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and her dear friend, Mary De Pass. Mary’s family honored and commemorated her life at a private time.
