FRANKFORT, NY - Mrs. Lena Marie (Dispirito) Carzo, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the comfort and dignity of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on June 25, 1927, Lena was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Dimeo) Dispirito. Raised and educated in Utica, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. On June 17, 1950, she married Rocco L. Carzo with whom she shared a loving and devoted union of 64 years prior to his passing on October 28, 2014. Lena was employed as a skilled Electronics Technician first at General Electric Company at both the French Rd. and Broad Street locations. Then, through her occupational experience, she gained employment at Univac. She later retired from Hamilton Digital as a Supervisor. A kind-hearted woman, Lena was a companion to her husband and a loving mother and grandmother. She hosted the holidays for all her siblings and their spouses, and as all their children were born, Lena welcomed the little ones, providing each of them a seat and a place setting at her table. She also entertained at family picnics and special occasions, and her home was always open. She loved baking, and her specialties were her Italian cookies on Christmas and Easter, sharing them with all the members of her family, locally and all over the country, wherever they were. Lena was also an excellent seamstress, always creating and sharing. And, of course, she loved to shop. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #7393 in New York Mills, and she also enjoyed her regular gatherings with former classmates and best friends that would allow them to meet and spend many memorable occasions together. Lena is survived by her children and their loves, Sharon Corrente, Florence “Florie” and William C. Jones, twins John Carzo and David Carzo, and Rocco and Helen Carzo; and the memory of her son-in-law Jim Corrente who passed away on October 16, 2020; her grandchildren, Kara and Joe Bisceglie, James Corrente and Jennifer Manera, Kristen Corrente, Tammy and Frank Twitchell, Ryan and Whitney Passante, Peter and Ciara Passante, Matthew and Marlena Passante, Rocco A. Carzo, and Alexis Carzo and Kam Wallace; great-grandchildren, James Corrente, Maximo Corrente, Cristian Butera, Kaira Twitchell; Abri Passante, Luca Passante; Ryan Bisceglie, and Greyson Passante; and her brother, Anthony J. Dispirito. She also leaves her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Carmen and Phyllis Carzo, Anthony and Carol Carzo, Frank “Cic” and Josie Carzo, Cindy Carzo, Mary Ann and Joseph Guzzetta, Shirley Dispirito, and Marie Carzo. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Richard Moody, Florence Dispirito, and Catherine “Kay” and John O’Dell; brother and sister-in-law, Sam J. and Elizabeth Dispirito, brother, Frank Dispirito; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Carzo, and George Carzo. The family extends sincere thanks to neighbors, Benny and Kelly Rotundo for their kindness and attention to Lena’s needs; and her health care aides, Kelly Wenzel and Michele Roberts who tended to her with dedication, care, and concern. The family will honor and commemorate Lena’s life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lena’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 12:00 noon at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Face masks are required and social distancing and contact tracing will be implemented.
