Mr. James Joseph "Jim" Quinn

December 28, 1940 - February 3, 2022

UTICA – Mr. James Joseph “Jim” Quinn, age 81, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2022, with those he loved most in his heart. Born in Utica on December 28, 1940 to the late Arthur and Jean (Bonner) Quinn, Jim was raised and educated locally. He attended and graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School. On October 12, 1973, Jim married his cherished wife, the former Mary Ann D’Acunto. The couple shared in a loving and devoted union for 49 years. Jim truly loved his family and delighted in spending time with them – especially with his granddaughter Gia. Moreover, Jim shared a beautiful relationship with the D’Acunto family, especially Mary Ann’s cousins. For his life-long career, Jim was employed as a master painter for Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute. He contributed to the Institute for 44 years, accomplishing the masterful job of creating a backdrop for various fine arts and talents. Jim was known as exceedingly creative and very gifted. When he was not spending time working or with family, Jim enjoyed the great outdoors. A man who had a very quiet temperament, he would unwind in nature on his hunting and fishing excursions – especially in his younger years. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; and his daughter and son-in-law, Kelli Anne and Richard Arcuri. He will live on in the heart of his cherished granddaughter, Gia, who was his pride and joy; and his brother and sister-in-law, William and Geraldine Quinn. Jim was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony W. and Catherine “Dolly” (Fiorile) D’Acunto. The Quinn family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of 3A of St. Elizabeth Medical Center for their care and compassion. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, the family will be honoring his life privately. Memorial contributions in Jim’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, online at: https://www.stjude.org/donate; or to the Kelberman Center online at https://www.kelbermancenter.org/giving.
