Mr. James W. "Jim" Loy Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

SCHUYLER – Mr. James W. “Jim” Loy, age 74, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. At the time of his passing he was in the hearts of those he loved most. Born to the late Linwood and Veronica (Karuzas) Loy on December 23, 1947, Jim was raised in Deerfield and attended Whitesboro High School. At one time, he was married to the former Claudia Sanderson, and from that marriage they welcomed their two beautiful children. Jim and Claudia maintained a close relationship to this day. Jim spent his professional career on the open roads as a tractor trailer driver. Having worked for numerous trucking companies, he traveled the U.S. and met countless driver friends who made his journeys enjoyable. As a dad, Jim adored spending time with his kids, making memories fishing, camping, rebuilding motors – and giving them time to share stories. Jim’s fun-loving and light-hearted spirit was the first thing people noticed about him. He was blessed with an impressive vocal talent and often sang karaoke as one of his favorite pastimes. Ever a jokester, he often found himself as the center of attention. He simply loved to have fun, and embodied the saying “he worked hard and played hard.” Those who knew him were always entertained by him and made memories at his many get-togethers. Ever an outdoorsman, Jim loved being out in nature, camping, jet skiing, and he especially loved the unique sunsets on Oneida Lake. His family circle was his greatest treasure. Christmas was a special holiday to Jim, since it was filled with great meals and he loved to be showered with the many gifts the season brought. He also especially cherished family gatherings, especially camp fires and listening to country music, especially Elvis. A prayerful man, Jim believed that the Lord lived in his soul. Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Aric Crossett; his son and daughter-in-law, James “Jamie” and Lindsey Loy; and their mother, Claudia Loy. Additionally, he leaves his son, Dalton Loy. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, twins Steven Aloisio and Sarah Vogt, and Stephanie Aloisio, Ashley Bibik; Jaxen J. Loy, and Ethan J. Loy. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Loy, and Lawrence “Larry” and his wife Maria Loy; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who reside in both Utica and Virginia. His memory will live on with his good friends: Chuck Schook, his lifetime buddy with whom he shared most of his life; Mike Chapple, a good and loyal friend who helped make life good; longtime friend, Bob Scammell; and John Bevilacqua, Sr., a great friend and godfather to his son. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Patricia M. “Pat” (Damico) Smith and her husband Warren Smith. The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Samir Desai, in whom Jim placed implicit trust. Gratitude is also extended to Dr. Jonathan Colino, his primary caregiver, who truly did his best to relieve Jim from pain. The family is also grateful to the nurses and staff at MVHS St. Elizabeth Campus for their outstanding care, it was of great comfort to have good professionals by their side. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. James's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in West Schuyler Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
