Mrs. Gloria A. (Esposito) Lisi

September 14, 1925 - July 21, 2020

UTICA - Mrs. Gloria Aqualina (Esposito) Lisi, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 with her grandson John, and caregivers by her side. She was born on September 14, 1925 in Rome, NY, the daughter of Samuel and Bessie (Ferlo) Esposito. Gloria married John R. Lisi of Utica on April 29, 1950, a blessed union of 46 years until his passing on October 17, 1996. Gloria worked for General Electric on Broad St. for many years, until its closing. She then went to work as a Teaching Assistant in the Utica School District at both Kemble Elementary School and Proctor High School. Gloria thoroughly enjoyed working with youth until retiring from the district in 1996. She enjoyed traveling to Georgia, cooking, and spending holiday time with her grandson and nieces. She especially cherished time spent with her many friends. She was a longtime member of the former Sons of Italy, Utica lodge. Gloria was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish since residing in Utica. Gloria is survived by her son, John J. Lisi, Sr. of Georgia; two grandsons who she adored, John J. Lisi, Jr. (Danielle) of Rome, NY, and Joseph Lisi (Lyudmylia) of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Victoria Lisi of Augusta, GA; niece, Karen Spindler of Rome; sister-in-law, Helen Esposito of Rome; and several nieces and nephews in Rome, Florida, and South Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband, John; her brothers, Gregory Esposito and his wife Lille, and Samuel Esposito; and her sister, Mary “Dolly” Herper and her husband Theodore; and her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lisi. Gloria’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Thomas John, Dr. Tatyana Antonevich, Dr. Hugh Macisaac, Dr. Nicholas Qandah, and the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for their compassionate care. A special thank you to her home caregivers, Dina Bektic, Sanela S., Melissa Bektic, and Bademka S. for their devoted and loving care which allowed Gloria to remain at home. The family will honor and commemorate Gloria’s life at a private time. Due to the COVID pandemic, graveside services and Interment will be held privately at St. Agnes Cemetery, Mohawk St., Utica. Please take a moment to connect with Gloria’s family through the “Memories” section of her obituary on our website. Our prayers continue to go out to all as a sign of our continued support.
