UTICA – Mr. Frank M. “Butch” Jweid, age 73, passed peacefully Monday evening, February 21, 2022, with his loving nieces by his side. Frank was born in Utica on September 25, 1948, to the late Ame and Margaret (Alesandro) Jweid. He graduated from T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1967. There, Frank made numerous wonderful friendships and excelled in his favorite sport of weightlifting. Frank enjoyed a variety of interests, which is additionally reflected by his varied careers. He initially gained employment with Cardamone Wholesale House in Utica before he shifted into a position as a baker with Wonder Bread. Later, in his retirement years, Frank helped out his friend Neil Jacobs at Mohawk Automotive; the two enjoyed a good and dependable friendship, and Frank was a reliable assistant to any of his work needs. A very compassionate man, Frank was known to give wonderful care to all those he loved. For Frank, family came first. He lived this priority with boundless energy, which propelled him into the many activities of his family members. His charitable heart and sincere desire to be present to family and friends gave him great satisfaction, and he was truly an honorable man. Frank particularly enjoyed when the whole Jweid family would meet to break bread together – an event that occurred often at their camps at Oneida Lake. So many marvelous memories were made. He also enjoyed sacred time spent fishing on that beautiful lake as well. He would also frequent Vernon Downs to enjoy the excitement of harness racing, particularly with his late brother Louie. A man with a green thumb, Frank was especially good with his favorite plant – the Christmas Cactus. Moreover, he enjoyed landscaping, planting memorable treasures and was incredibly precise in cleaning and leaving a picturesque scene. A man of faith, Frank was very religious and valued daily prayer, attending Mass, and carrying out countless acts of kindness. He was a long-time parishioner at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Frank is survived by his cherished and beloved siblings, Rosemary Jweid, Ame and Lorraine Jweid; and he was preceded by his brother, Louis “Louie” Jweid in 2016. Frank will live on in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, Lisa and David Holmes, and Melanie and Dr. Mahesh Padmanabhan; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Matthew, Brandon, and Madison Holmes; and Maya, and Luca Padmanabhan. Frank leaves behind his cherished friends Ricky Manella, with whom Frank did many great things, David Klievoneit and Dave LaFayette, who looked over Frank on a daily basis. He formed many strong bonds with the staff of The Neighborhood Center as well. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Frank’s beloved nieces, Lisa and Melanie, for their outstanding service in navigating Frank’s healthcare; the pair was honored to be there for their uncle; as well as the 6th floor nurses at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare, who were phenomenal in their care of Frank “Butch”; the pastoral care Rev. Becky who was so understanding and personal in her prayers for comfort, and to the staff of the Presbyterian Home of CNY, who were exceptional and whom the family found to be a blessing. A special note of gratitude additionally is made to Rev. Tom Lorenz for all of his prayers and uplifting encouragement. The Jweid family will honor Frank’s life at a private time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory, to the American Cancer Society, online at: https://donate3.cancer.org; envelopes will also be available at the service.
