Mr. Frank A. Gagliano

Mr. Frank A. Gagliano, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on July 29, 1947, Frank was the son of the late Dominick F. and Clara (Cappelli) Gagliano. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1965. He advanced his education at M.V.C.C. earning an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering. On August 24, 1974 he married the former Linda D. Costello with whom he shared 39 years in a truly respectful relationship; their life was full and filled with laughter and good times; they were truly meant to be together. Powered by a persistent work ethic and a penchant for anything automotive, Frank held pride in his position at the Minit Car Wash Company on Holland Ave. He was also employed by the Oneida County Department of Public Works where he worked for 29 years as an expeditor, retiring in 2002. With his keen knowledge of trucks, in his retirement years, Frank was fortunate to find a part time job at Cook Brothers Truck Parts Company as a counter person. He was a genuine family man who wore his heart on his sleeve. The blessing of his grandchildren enriched and energized his life. He was an integral part of their lives from the moment they were born. He smiled and sparkled when he was among them and he made each of them feel special. He was a “wonderful Papa”. Frank led a good, simple life. He enjoyed his home and time with his wife. His family was paramount and they always came first in his heart and soul. He loved a great meal, a good television program, and cookies dunked in a good cup of coffee. He was an astute “people watcher” and often a good judge of character of those he observed. He was a unique dancer who had a comical personality which made him good company. Frank was always fascinated by automobiles and in his youth he was a spectator and participated in pit crews with the National Hot Rod Association., He also pursued photography, and surfed and researched the worldwide web. He was an avid boater especially at his camp at Fishers Landing in Alexandria Bay. In more recent years, he wintered in Florida where he enjoyed the warmth of the sunshine and friendships. He was grounded by his Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Frank is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Michael Minetos of Pennsylvania; and his loves and his world, his grandchildren, Mikey, Mia, Gabriel, and Mikayla. He will live on in the hearts of his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Terri Gagliano of Utica; his many nieces and nephews including Nadine Gagliano, and Jason and Christina and their little one, Sophia; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, in-laws Cynthia and Richard Archer, Ralph and Mary Costello; special godson, Joey Scarafile; and the many wonderful friendships that graced his life. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Mary Costello. The family sends sincere thanks to Frank’s Aunt Annette, his cousin Phil, his brother Peter, and his friends Bruce Hayes and Rich Garris, for the genuine love, support, and great times that lifted Frank’s spirit. A meaningful note of gratitude to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. who made his wish to be home a reality through their support and care. His family will fondly remember them. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank’s honor may be considered to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Due to renovations in progress at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, Frank’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. James Cesta. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
