Mr. Ed Kaminski Sr.

Mr. Ed Kaminski, Sr., was reunited with his beloved wife, Joan, on May 18, 2015. Ed was married to the former Joan Bevan who passed away after several years of Ed caring for all her needs, especially when she was completely bedridden. Ed was an Army veteran who enjoyed reminiscing about when he was a Small Arms Instructor stationed at Ft Bliss, Texas. He also liked talking about the family farm, formerly in Deerfield. How many times did he recollect about riding horses in the desert in Texas or being trapped in a silo with his brother when he was little? A lifetime Utica resident, Ed was a Union Carpenter and Foreman, and also operated his own remodeling business. Later he became a Building Inspector for the City of Utica for 33 years until his retirement. In between Ed worked every holiday at the Utica Post Office and also drove truck (after work) for an air freight company to and from the Syracuse airport. He was also a Utica Committee member, past President of the 11th Ward Fish and Game Club, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Ed was also an usher at the former Blessed Sacrament Church where he enjoyed the festivals, and was Festival Chairman on occasion. More recently he attended St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church in Utica. His favorite pastimes were fishing, camping, swimming, and tinkering and talking about cars, often at D&D Auto or Bob’s Auto Parts. Ed was preceded in death by his wife Joan; and his siblings, Joe, Albert, Alex, and Frances. He leaves to remember him his children, Mary Ann Wisner and Pat Violette, Edward G. Kaminski, Jr., Esq., and his wife Janice (DiNardo), Retired UPD David Kaminski and Korinne Smith; his grandchildren, Lynnann Wisner, Dan Wisner; Halle Kaminski, and Matthew Smith; great-grandson Robert; nephew John; and special friend Gitta Wood; among many others. The family would like to thank Judy and the dedicated staff at Harding Nursing Home in Waterville who patiently cared for Ed with his Alzheimer’s and other health issues. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:30-7:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Ed’s Funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Richard Dellos. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
