November 29, 1979 - January 31, 2022
UTICA – Mr. David Alessandro Flanders, age 42, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 31, 2022, in the comfort and dignity of his home. David was born in New Hartford on November 29, 1979 to Frank D. “Dave” and Rita A. (Rosato) Flanders. There he was raised and attended local area schools, graduating from New Hartford High School. David then went to Mohawk Valley Community College, where he received his associates degree. He was always seeking to further his education, which led him to SUNY Polytechnic Institute and working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. At one time he was wed to Julie McMullen, from that union came the blessing of two children. David was later blessed to marry the woman who was his best friend: Megan R. Weston. The couple was united in marriage on October 28, 2018, and went on to share many great and amazing times together. As a father, David was wonderfully caring and outgoing. Moreover, he was very family-oriented and consistently intentional to remain involved in family life. At one time, David was employed at the Resource Center for Independent Living in the Human Resources Department. Currently, he was employed at Lowes in New Hartford as a Pro Specialist. A caring and loving man, David never had a bad relationship; everyone he met loved him. When he wasn’t working or spending time with family or friends, David enjoyed several of his hobbies. He loved football, especially the Buffalo Bills. Additionally, David thrived on updating and remodeling his home and delighted in his beloved huskies, Bella and Bronco. David is survived by his cherished wife, Megan; his parents, Dave and Rita; his daughters, Katelyn Flanders and her mom Eileen McGowan, Alana McMullen, Karrigan McMullen; his son, David Flanders, Jr.; and his step-children, Emoni Jenkins, Olivia Rzepka, and Jordan Garland. David also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Renee Flanders; his aunts, Alberina Rosato, Mary Beth Rounds, and Dona Schaub-Gifford; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his in-laws, Michael and Melissa Maxim, William and Tonya Maxim, and Melissa Moran and Jonathan Bonavita. David will be missed by his special friend, Kyle Johnson. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Alessandro and Rose (Falvo) Rosato, his paternal grandparents, Herbert & Helen Flanders, and his mother-in-law, Sandra Ann Weston. The Flanders family would like to extend their gratitude to the Utica Fire Department for their valiant efforts, and to the many people David met and spent time with who relied on each other’s support to overcome similar obstacles. A Memorial Service in David’s honor will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 19, 2022 at 12:30 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1640 Genesee St. A reception will follow upstairs at the church.
