Ms. Cynthia Mary "Cindy" d'Amico
July 8, 1950 - January 19, 2022
UTICA – Ms. Cynthia Mary “Cindy” d’Amico, age 71, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, January 19, 2022, with those she loved most in her heart. Born in Utica on July 8, 1950 to the late Dr. Raymond A. and Agatha B. (Bianchi) D’Amico, she was raised and educated locally, a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1968. Cynthia then pursued higher academia by attending Cazenovia College. Cynthia’s professional career was in the insurance industry. Her life-long work was comprised of her employ with Commercial Travelers Insurance Company. There, Cynthia continually rose in the Claims Division through various promotions until her retirement in 2013. Her career did not preoccupy all her time, however, as she found much enjoyment in her frequent vacations to Florida and internationally. Cynthia particularly appreciated visiting Italy, where she kept in contact with the relatives who lived there. She was also a very talented crafts person who had mastered both knitting and crocheting. Puzzles, skill games, or the like – there were none that did not attract her attention. And, who could forget her often lucky trips to the Turning Stone Casino! A woman of strong convictions and opinions, Cynthia was never bashful when it came to defending and advancing her beliefs. Cynthia believed the Catholic Creed. Cynthia is survived by her brothers, Robert A. d’Amico of Utica, and Raymond A. and his wife, Helen, d’Amico, of Clifton Park; and niece and nephew, Michelle C. and Raymond A. d’Amico. She is also survived by several endearing cousins. The family would like to acknowledge and express their gratitude to Donna Citrin, a long-time workmate and close friend, and Beth Skermont, a long-time family friend. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Cynthia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning, January 29, 2022 at 10:00 at Historic Old St. John’s Church, 240 Bleecker St., where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Regardless of vaccination status, masks are required at all times to remain in compliance with the state and county mask order. In lieu of floral offerings, expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made directly to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; or online at: https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate; envelopes will be available at church. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery.
