MARCY, NY - Mrs. Carmella Ann (Tauresano) Vaccaro, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the Sitrin Health Care Center with her loving daughter Anita by her side. Born in Utica on August 1, 1928, Carmella was the daughter of Rufus and Marie (Postiglione) Tauresano. Raised and educated locally, she was a 1947 graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On September 2, 1950, she married Vito N. Vaccaro with whom she shared a devoted love until his passing on February 25, 1990. She was a federal, civilian employee of Griffiss Air Force Base until her retirement in 1973. Carmella was a vibrant, energetic woman with an infectious smile that would light up a room along with raising the spirits of everyone present. She retained her vivacious nature throughout her senior years. She was always a loving, caring, and giving mother. She was dedicated to the care and well-being of her parents throughout their lives. She was an outstanding Italian cook and pastry maker. She especially loved her gaming trips to various casinos in the northeast, her BINGO outings, family cruises and family vacations in Florida. Carmella is survived by her daughter Anita M. Trimboli; her "son" and gaming companion Joe Caldwell; her nephew the Reverend Philip Cali and his family; her very caring and helpful neighbor Sharon Sobolewski; and her two very special friends Mary Jo Kelley and Linda Sciortino. She was predeceased by her lone sibling Mary (Tauresano) Cali and Mary's husband Joe Cali. The family is grateful for the excellent care and constant compassion provided Carmella by Dr. John Pylman, Dr. Brian Chase, and the nurses and staff of the Sitrin Health Center who attended to her there with a special thank you to LPN Kim. The family would also like to thank Acacia Home Health Care for the services provided to Carmella while she was at home with a special thank you to her primary aid Bonnie. The family honored and commemorated Carmella's life at a private gathering tended to by Father Joseph Salerno. Carmella will be entombed in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
