Bonita Marie Cassin

March 10, 1947 - January 16, 2022

CLINTON - Bonita Marie Cassin, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born in Rutland, Vermont on March 10, 1947, Bonita was the daughter of the late Robert and Louise (Romano) Cassin. During her earlier years, she received her education in Washington Mills. Happy, content, and very outgoing, Bonita’s big smile always brightened up a room! She dressed to impress, and her apparel was accessorized with her favorite jewelry. Bonita was flattered to hear folks compliment her appearance, and their good words gave her great joy and gratification. She also cherished time spent chit-chatting and relished in shared conversations. In the area of delectable foods, pizza and Cheez Doodles were at the top of her list. She loved to listen to music, especially Christmas carols during the holidays. As a child, she was delighted to take car rides and spend time at her grandparents’ camp. In her adult years, she looked forward to outings with her peers, and the residential staff who provided protection, comfort, and support. Bonita is survived by her sister, Michele Romano and Larry Zegarelli; her nieces and nephews, Kelly and Mike Salamey, and Ashley Huckabone and spouse Matt Greenbaum; great-nephews, David Gonzalez, and Jackson Greenbaum; and her family at the Clinton D.D.S.O./Developmental Disabilities Services Organization for whom she held a great love. The family is grateful to the devoted staff of the Clinton St. IRA where she resided for the last 33 years, especially acknowledging Christina Sowich and Sandy Smith for their love and compassionate care. The family will honor Bonita’s life at a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bonita’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022 at 11:00 at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, 2222 Genesee St. where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Regardless of vaccination status, face masks are required to remain in compliance with the state and county mask order.
