March 4, 1951 - August 21, 2021
HINCKLEY, NY - Bobbie Mary (Balch) Spina passed into the light August 21, 2021, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Little Falls, NY on March 4, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Beverly (Silliman) and Robert Balch. From a young age, Bobbie loved to travel, living abroad for periods as a child in Mexico and Panama, but no home was dearer to her than her family’s six-generation home in Hinckley, NY, residence of her cherished grandmother, the late Margaret (Droyer) Silliman Lloyd. Bobbie was a spirited adventurer, perpetual optimist, and dedicated caregiver—she walked many paths effortlessly, including modeling, writing/storytelling (owning a small newspaper in Texas), and her most beloved pursuit, nursing. Bobbie graduated from Holland Patent High School, Miami International University of Art & Design, and Utica School of Nursing. Bobbie’s true calling was caring for others, and as a nurse, her deepest purpose revealed itself through administering hospice and palliative care. As a hospice nurse, her incomparable compassion, kindness, and shining bright personality, paired with her astute medical instincts, eased so much suffering and profoundly touched so many fragile, precious lives. Our ‘Bubbie’ had a passion for life. She loved kayaking (especially lakes and rivers of the Adirondacks); hiking in nature with her dogs; creating magical worlds through story and song for her grandchildren; and adventuring with her family in Florida, New Hampshire, Vermont, the Dominican Republic, and, most of all, Boston, where she spent her time enjoying every precious moment she could with her grandsons, her daughters, and their families. Bobbie is survived by her adoring husband Ronald Spina; daughter Erin-Kate (Spina) Greeley, son-in-law Benjamin Greeley, grandson Bodhi Greeley; and daughter Carrie-Beth (Spina) Lucchino, son-in-law David Lucchino, and grandsons Jackson and Hayden Lucchino. Holding Bobbie forever in their hearts are many other beloved family members and treasured forever friends. Bobbie’s memory and life will be celebrated privately with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations are most welcome in her memory to: Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. of the Mohawk Valley at https://hospicecareinc.org; Abraham House at https://www.theabrahamhouse.org; or Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society at https://www.anitas-sshs.org. Her infinite love, beauty, kindness, selflessness, grace, strength, bravery, and humor will live forever in our hearts. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. This obituary was lovingly written by Bobbie’s family.
