January 12, 1957 - January 3, 2021
UTICA - Mr. Benjamin Paul Walker, age 63, affectionately known to many as “Benny Paul” or “Uncle Ben”, entered into the arms of the Lord when he passed away on January 3, 2021. Benjamin was born January 12, 1957 to the late Harvey Ivey and Ethel Mae Walker Ivey. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ben served his country with honor while deployed to Hawaii, and South Korea, and stationed at various other locations. He recently retired from Homogeneous Metals, Inc. in Clayville after many years of dedicated service. Uncle Ben was beloved by many people for his kindness and generosity. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, often reciting his quotes, especially, “Chicken is good” but “God is Great”, and he always concluded with “God Bless You”. Everyone knew Ben was benevolent and often made contributions to the homeless, charitable causes, as well as family and friends. Ben did the work of his Lord by the way he lived his life. He was a member of the Greater Highway Deliverance Temple. He loved entertaining family and friends and listening to his collection of music he amassed over the years. He was always the life of the party, dancing, telling jokes, and blowing his whistle while jamming to his music. Benjamin leaves behind his loving daughters Twyla “Big Honey” (Arthur) Newton, Akiera “Fe Fe” Walker, and Meyoshi (Dave) Carrette. He will always be remembered by a host of grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy “Ruthie” (John) Spratt, and Virginia “Polly” (Danny) Watkins; his youngest brother Harvey “Fuzzy” (Betty) Ivey; brother-in-law, John Lee Reed; and sister-in-law, Melissa Walker. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and special friends James House, Sherman Brown and Jerry Reed. Ben was predeceased by his sister Sadie Walker-Reed, whom he affectionately called “Big Mama”; his brother James “Jimmy” Walker; and his nephews John “Curt” Spratt, Emmanuel “E.E.” Spratt, Derrick “Fuddy” Reed, Daniel “Mr. Piggy” Watkins, and Joshua Brown. “Uncle Ben, you will always be loved, and never forgotten.” Love, your nephew Will “Pank” Walker “Papa Bear, you have earned your wings. Fly High” Love, Big Honey “Dad, Peewee finally got your money” Love, Fe Fe “Thank you for a lifetime of memories and laughter that I will cherish forever” Love, Deb “Missing you bro, I love you, it will never be the same without you“ Love, Dorothy The harvest to come is here, and will continue to manifest that which was sown. So take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our sisters and brothers in the family of faith. So let’s sow, grow, and harvest. -Amen When prayer becomes your habit, miracles become your lifestyle. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Amen Philippians 4:13 In my father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
