January 30, 1938 - November 29, 2021
UTICA - Mrs. Barbara (Neale) Tremblay, age 83, passed away on Monday afternoon, November 29, 2021, with those she loved most in her heart. Barbara was born in Utica on January 30, 1938 to the late Leona and Floyd Brockway. She remained local, graduating from Whitesboro High School and went on to further her studies, receiving her bachelor’s degree. Barbara worked with NYS DDSO where she remained until her retirement years later. At one time, Barbara was married to Joseph A. Tremblay, who passed on May 30, 2002. To that marriage came the blessing of three children. A woman with a heart of gold, Barbara was known for her care of her family, as well as the stranger in need. She was steadfast in caring for her son, who had special needs, and was diligent in her efforts to make his days memorable and filled with adventure. Barbara also allotted much of her time and energy to volunteering at local charities. Oneida County Historical Center, Hope House, and the Utica Public Library were all organizations that benefitted from Barbara’s generous heart. She was selfless, always prioritizing the needs of others, while encouraging and inspiring those in her orbit to get the love and care they needed so they could do their best. Barbara never judged others; she possessed a truly kind heart. In her interactions with her grandchildren, she was able to impart both wisdom and irreplaceable life lessons. Additionally, Barbara was good to her dearly loved cats. Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter, Tina M. Showa; her son, Joseph F. and Laura Tremblay, and she held dear to her heart the memory of her son, David R. Tremblay, who passed July 17, 2014. She will be remembered in the hearts of her grandchildren, Bionca Rose Showa, and Anthony Showa, both with whom she shared a special bond; and Joseph E. and Ashley Tremblay; as well as by her brother Keith Brockway and his wife, Marian, who reside in Ohio. Barbara is also survived by her nieces and nephews in Ohio. The Tremblay family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Wassel for his care and compassion, to D&T Transport for their wonderful care, to the Dialysis Center for their professional care, to the physical therapist at Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and especially to the staff of the second floor there. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Barbara’s Graveside Service and Committal Prayers on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery.
