NEW HARTFORD – Mr. Anthony T. “Guido” Donaldson, age 68, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on June 2, 1953 to the late Wesley W. “Wes” and Antoinette (D’Angelo) Donaldson, Anthony attended local schools and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1972. Anthony married the former Leah M. Muraco on February 20, 1988; the couple considered themselves blessed by the shared opportunity to raise their two beautiful children. Anthony loved his children deeply, and his heart would eventually expand to hold the love of his grandson Rocco. He was the “apple of his Poppy’s eye.” A hard worker from a young age, Anthony started working at his family business: DeRisio Bakery. Throughout his adult years Anthony went on to various jobs and titles throughout the many states he had the pleasure of calling home. His last job was in the maintenance department under the employment of the Catholic Diocese as a building superintendent at Mount Carmel Apartments. Additionally, Anthony was a gifted musician who taught himself to master the piano. Music was a deep rooted passion in Anthony’s life. A passion which began with his love of the band, The Beatles. Later in life his passion would evolve into the formation of his own band - Fast Lane. Anthony’s band was well known throughout central New York playing many different clubs throughout the region. Anthony had an extraordinary sense of humor. He truly loved to be with people and make them laugh. Anthony loved to watch and root for his favorite teams – the NY Yankees and the Giants – and he enjoyed passing his team allegiances onto his son, Michael. Furthermore, Anthony loved Christmas and Easter and enjoyed sharing in the many beautiful traditions of his faith and heritage. A devoted Catholic, Anthony held a great devotion for the faith in his heart. A long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, he was also a parishioner at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Anthony is survived by his wife, Leah M. Donaldson; his daughter, Dana Donaldson-Colantuono; his son, Michael A. and wife Brittani Donaldson; and grandson, Rocco Anthony Colantuono and his father, Anthony. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Donaldson; and son, Anthony Donaldson, Jr. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews; and his in-laws, Kim and Joseph Blidy, David and Jennifer Muraco, and Melissa and Lance Benware. Anthony shared a life-long friendship with Richard Matsuzewski. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Pasquale Giuseppe “Pat” Muraco; his mother-in-law, Sandra L. “Sandy” Rabideau; and his maternal grandparents, Grazia and Donato D’Angelo. The Donaldson family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Rev. Michael Bundz from St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, for his prayer and spiritual guidance; to Dr. Gedela for his compassion and care; and to the nurses on the 6th floor at St. Luke’s Campus, especially to Jeanne and Meghan for all their care. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Anthony’s funeral service Celebration of Life will commence at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Regardless of vaccination status, face masks are required to remain in compliance with the state and county mask order. Interment will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
