Mr. William H. "Bill" Shepard

Mr. William Howard “Bill” “Bompa” Shepard, age 68, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Rome NY on May 23, 1947, William was the son of the late William and Ruth (Smith) Shepard. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Holland Patent High School. On April 8, 1972 he married the former Teresa Maneen with whom he shared 43 years in a beautiful union blessed with children and grandchildren who became the center of their lives. Teresa and Bill complemented one another’s character and added to each other’s best attributes. By nature, Bill’s manner was quiet and unassuming, but he had a mighty wit and great one-liners. Quite often, it would take him a few days to tell a story, stretched out by details and detours. Bill was currently employed with Remington Arms in Ilion where he rendered 8 years of service. Formerly he held a position at Westmoreland Malleable Iron Works, a career that covered 20 years. Bill is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Christopher Osborn of West Winfield, and Heather and Richard Kelly of Frankfort; and his pride and joy, his grandchildren, for whom he had a never ending love, Kayleigh, Chelsea, and Elliana Osborn; and Mackenzie, Joshua, Madison, Brayden, and Cullen Kelly. He will also remain in the hearts of his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Tom Marolf, and Patricia and Bobby Joe Fay; his brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Deanna Shepard, Thomas Shepard, Robert and Jody Shepard, Edward Shepard, and Michael and Dawn Shepard; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, close friends, especially Gil and Emily Shaffer, mother-in-law, Lucille Maneen; and in-laws Peter and Judy Maneen, Betty and Bob Wadman, Steve and Dot Maneen, Rick and Celeste Maneen, Brian and Julie Maneen, and Sandy and John Francis. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Peter Maneen. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially the ICU nurses and Dr. Bhisham Garg for the attention, care, and compassion rendered to Bill and his family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Gathering in William’s honor which will be held on Tuesday afternoon from 4:30 to 6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Bill’s Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 6:00 pm immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Joe Salerno.
