Mr. William J. "Bill" Webster

UTICA - Mr. William J. “Bill” Webster, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Born in Montgomery, AL on September 29, 1942, Bill was the son of the late Alice Mae Webster and Sandy Cotton. At the age of 14, Bill moved to New York. He graduated from high school in Yonkers and went on to attend Yonkers Community College. Bill proudly served our country in the United States Army. Through their mutual employment at the time, Bill met the former Dyna Petit-Homme who was immediately drawn to him because of his quirky sense of humor. The two were wed on December 27, 1996, and shared over 28 years in a loving and devoted union. Bill owned and operated Econo-Auto, an autobody business on Erie Street in Utica. Bill was known for his honesty and strong work ethic. Those qualities translated into customers who knew they could trust him for an honest quote and the hard work necessary to fix their automobiles. Bill was truly the best in the business ~ he took immense pride in his workmanship and put many hours and much energy into building a business of which he was so proud. Frame repair was Bill’s favorite part of the job. He found something special in being able to return something broken to its original form. Bill enjoyed his work and was so dedicated, he never really retired. Bill was talented and well-read in almost any mechanical trade. If it had a motor, Bill knew how to fix it and operate it. Eventually, he developed a passion for flying and earned his pilot’s license. Bill appreciated the tranquility of the cockpit and truly enjoyed the hours he was able to spend in the air. Bill was a spiritual man who was disciplined in his morning devotions. They helped set the tone and readied him for each day. Bill’s love and closeness to God grew as he aged, and their relationship became one of his most sacred. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Dyna; his children and their families, Alison Webster, Walter Johnson, Cynthia Oliver, Wayne Howard, Faith Webster, William Webster, Sandy Webster, Kelly Webster, Shania Webster, La’vonne Webster, Priscilla Webster, Sean Webster, and Megan Webster; a host grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Holmes; nieces and nephews and their families, especially Julia Latricia Holmes, and Reginald Holmes; and many cousins. He further leaves to cherish his memory, his mother-in-law, Jeanne Petit-Homme; and in-laws, the Petit-Homme, Berlotte, and Paul families. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Bill’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 12:00 p.m. Those unable to attend may be present virtually at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81833887400.
