Mr. William "Uncle Will" Brooks, Jr.

UTICA - Mr. William Brooks, Jr., affectionately known as Uncle Will or Willie, age 66, unexpectedly went home to the Lord when he passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in the comfort and dignity of his home. Born in New York City on July 21, 1954, William was the son of the late William, Sr. and Barbara (Wilson) Brooks. Raised and educated in New York City, he was a high school graduate. As a young man, he came to Utica and has favorited Utica as his home ever since. At one time, he shared in a relationship with Sherry Wright, and from that union came their daughter, Tamika. He later met and married Patricia Perry, and from that relationship came Lynnette, and William III. He shared in another loving relationship with Denise Welch and the blessing of their son, Shaquan. He also fathered Trevor, and Kamar Cummings, and their mother is Delores Cummings. William held a position as a Receptionist assisting people who were in the process of purchasing a home. He also worked in the Dietary Department of Crouse University Hospital. Uncle Will was funny, lighthearted, and always had a smile on his face. Laughter was part of his world, and because of his warm personality, he was always welcome at any party or gatherings. He was a sports spectator of college and professional basketball games, and an arm chair coach as well! He enjoyed various genres of music, from oldies to gospel, and there are memorable moments of Uncle Will’s attempts to dance. He also loved to cook, especially soul food and sea food, and as a youngster, he made the best pancakes. He was “Uncle Will” to his family and friends, and when loved ones gathered together, everything was put aside, and a good time was had by all. Will tried to be the best dad he could but knowing and loving his grandchildren was the most incredible feeling for him. William had a spiritual heart and a personal relationship with the Lord. William is survived by his children and their loves, Tamika (Andell) Alexander, Lynnette Brooks and Michael Caldwell, William Brooks III, Shaquan Brooks, Trevor Cummings, and Kamar Cummings; his grandchildren including, Brooklynn, Alanna, Andell Jr., Aryian, Deniro, Jace, Harlem, Harmony, and the anticipation of his grandson who will be born in September. He will remain in the hearts of his siblings, Sandy Brooks, Joy Marone Campbell and her husband Larry, and Corey Brooks; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins including Mary Adu who was very special to him, and a multitude of friends he formed throughout the years, from NY City to Syracuse; and his mother-figure whom he adored, Miss Mary Bell. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, May 30, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. COVID protocols will be required at the funeral home. William’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 immediately upon conclusion of visitation. July 21, 1954 - May 16, 2021
