Walter C. Brodowski

Mr. Walter C. “Walt” Brodowski, age 84, of Utica, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007, at the Masonic Care Community of NY with his loving family by his side. Born in Goshen, NY, on April 20, 1922, Walt was the son of the late Joseph and Stella (Malinowski) Brodowski. In May of 1946 he met his sweetheart, Mary Brescia, and on August 23, 1947, they were married. The couple was blessed with 59 years of devoted marriage based on admiration, respect, love and friendship. As a young child, Walt worked on the farm with his dad, where he developed a strong work ethic that he later instilled in his children. Subsequently, Walt worked for 35 years as a machine operator and supervisor at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. and was a dedicated and loyal employee. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists. A gentleman by nature, Walt truly understood the value of being a good neighbor and valued the opportunities of working with family and friends. Among his other attributes, he was honest, generous, and hard-working. His family was always his first priority, and he enjoyed spending leisure time with them, exploring new places and the great outdoors. He had a respect and love for nature, gardening, and animals and had a special interest in weather and climate. A community and civic-minded man, Walt at one time was a Cub and Boy Scout leader and a Corn Hill Little League manager. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Bowling League and Men’s Club, as well as an usher for the church. Walt is survived by his loving wife Mary; his children and their spouses, Robert F. “Bob” and Lucy (DiPerna) Brodowski of Liverpool, Dr. Michael J. Brodowski and Shirley Tatusko of Syracuse, Joann L. and Michael “Frank” Owens of Utica, and Anita M. and Timothy J. Pariseau of Berthoud, CO; and his grandchildren, Christopher M. Brodowski, Matthew D. Brodowski, Benjamin C. Brodowski, Sara J. Brodowski, Sean D. Owens, and Danielle Tatusko. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Julia Brodowski of NC; his sister, Cecilia Soposki of Herkimer; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; many cousins; and his in-laws, Angie Doane and Antoinette and Gregory DeMetri; and his sister-in-law, Stephanie Brodowski. He also leaves behind his close friends, Charlie Johnson and Tony Trotta. He was predeceased by his brother, John Brodowski; his infant brother, Henry; and his brother-in-law, Michael Soposki. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Westchester Wing, for the excellent care and compassion shown to Walt and his family. In addition, we would like to acknowledge the many special friends we made along the way. Visitation will be held on Friday (today) from 4-8 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Walt’s honor to the Masonic Care Community of NY, or the Stevens-Swan Humane Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mr. Brodowski’s funeral will commence on Saturday morning at 8:00 from the funeral home and at 9:00 at St. Anthony of Padua Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family. ~ Dad, you are the wind beneath our wings. ~
