Viola P. (Pape) Castelli

Viola M. (Pape) Castelli, our wonderful Mother, the matriarch of our family, joined our Dad, our Sister, and our Nephew in eternal rest on Monday, June 26, 2006. Mom married Anthony, our Dad on November 27, 1930 in Historic Old St. John’s Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1980. They were ideally suited to each other. Dad was quiet and easy going, and our Mom was vivacious and always ready to go. They never argued and they gave us a storybook childhood. They lived for 45 years on the Parkway, a home our Mom lived in and meticulously maintained until she was 94. Mom was a beautiful person inside and out. She loved life and God blessed her with 98 years filled with laughter, affection, and the love of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an Operator for the New York Telephone Company. She was a very proud member and an active parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church. She was the Secretary of the Broadacres Guild and a member of the Democratic Women’s Club. She leaves her devoted daughters who were with her everyday to tend to her needs, Pat Taurisano, Jacki Gorea. Our beloved sister, Judi Frattasio passed away in September 2003. She also leaves her son-in-law, John Gorea; and was predeceased by her son-in-law, Albert Taurisano. She spent much of her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the pride and joy of her life. She was the first one they went to when they needed anything, and she never said no. She leaves her grandchildren, Jon and Diann Gorea, George Frattasio, Judy Gorea and Gayle Pulizzi, Gregory and Dena Gorea, and Geoffrey and Mary Jo Frattasio. She was predeceased by her Grandson, Gary Frattasio, who was always close to her heart. She is survived by her much adored Great Grandchildren, Tiffany, Nicole, Anthony, Samantha and Gregory Jon Gorea, and Amanda and Nina Frattasio. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Susan Frattasio, Joe DeLuke, Estell Barton, and Vincent Castelli. She was the last of the Frank and Marguerite Pape siblings. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary DeLuke, Julia Kipper; and by her brothers, Jacob, Daniel, and Dr. Raymond Pape. There will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at Historic Old St. John’s Church on Wednesday morning, June 28, 2006 at 9:30. Memorial contributions may be made to Historic Old St. John’s Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the service. The family will greet and receive visitors at the conclusion of the mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South Street, corner of Hammond Ave. “When you lose your Mother, you lose the best of all.”
