Mr. Todd Lavar "Tizzy" Rodgers

UTICA - Mr. Todd Lavar “Tizzy” Rodgers passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 22, 2019 as the result of gun violence, at the age of 33. Born in Utica on May 1, 1986, Todd was the son of Jacquline Rodgers. He was raised and educated in the Utica City School District and attended T.R. Proctor High School. Tizzy’s technical and electronic skills, coupled with his creative mind, allowed him to repair just about anything that was broken. He loved to fish, especially at his favorite spot, Leland Ponds. He was a competitive cook “on the grill”, and he had a unique presentation when he plated and served his perfectly cooked and seasoned barbecued favorites. Todd was a generous and giving young man, always thoughtful of others, especially his family. He traveled with friends and loved to fly and explore new places. He shared a chronicle of his ventures with “live streams” on Facebook. He was aware of his mistakes and he worked hard to stay out of trouble because being with his family was the reward for walking the right road. Tizzy was a great support to his mom, sister, nieces, nephew, and his host of friends. The many people who knew this will remember that he had a good heart and he did not like trouble. Todd is survived by his mom, Jackie; his maternal grandfather, Jet Rodgers; and his sister, Audrianna Rodgers. Always close to his heart was the memory of his brother, Dennis Donnell “JAP” Rodgers who passed away on March 6, 2019; he also held close his love for his “brother” Reginald Davis (2011). He also leaves his nieces, Zaryonna; and Taharianna; special nephew, Elijah; a host of cousins; aunt Rosina Bell and her children and grandchildren; great-aunt Hattie; uncles, godmothers, and wonderful friends including Ace, Wizz, Meino, Marcus, Bernard, and many others. He was predeceased by his loving grandmother, Mary Lee (Devose) Rodgers. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3:00-5:00 at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 1108 Court Street in Utica. Todd’s Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 5:00 p.m. at church immediately upon conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
