Theresa M. (Servello) Burke

Mrs. Theresa M. (Servello) Burke, age 80, of New York Mills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Heritage Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on April 9, 1929, Theresa was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Angeline (Mazza) Servello. She was raised and educated in Utica. Theresa worked as an assembler and lab technician at the General Electric Company/Broad Street and French Road locations, retiring in 1992. Upon leaving the workforce, she enjoyed spending time baking, reading, and attending her Tuesday ‘New York Mills Seniors’ night where she loved playing bingo and cards. Theresa was devout in practicing her Catholic faith and she dedicated her life to the veneration of St. Anthony and the Blessed Mother. She prayed the rosary regularly, and was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Theresa is survived by her devoted daughters, Mary Angela Zysk and her partner, Joseph Dimeo, of Maryland, and Sharon Elizabeth and Gary Puleo of Sauquoit; “Mimi” also leaves behind her cherished and beloved grandchildren, Donald P. Zysk, Gregory Zysk US Army, Ryan Secord, and Gary Puleo II; her step-grandchildren, Melissa Weaver, Michelle O’Brien, and Andrea MacDiarmid; and her 13 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Survivors also include her sisters and brother-in-law, Marian and Floyd Cordisco of FL, and Grace Czepiel of NY Mills; her brother and sister-in-law, Augustine “Gus” and Carmella “Mel” Servello of New Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Richard Hall; and her brother-in-law, Joseph Cepiel. The family expresses gratitude to the nurses and staff of the 2nd floor at the Heritage Healthcare Center for the compassion, care, and attention they offered to Theresa during her stay. Visitation will be held Sunday (today) from 2:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Theresa’s honor to the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Theresa’s funeral service will commence on Monday at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
