Theresa M. (DeMichele) Zennamo

Mrs. Theresa M. (DeMichele) Zennamo, age 80, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Heritage Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on March 19, 1929, Theresa was the daughter of the late Francesco “Frank” and Josephine “Antoinette” (Ruggiero) DeMichele. She was raised and educated locally. At one time, she was married to Mathew Zennamo. During her working days, Theresa was employed by the Sitrue Paper Plant, the Oneita Knitting Mills, and at one time, she also held a position at the General Electric Radio Receiver Plant on Bleecker St. A woman of high morals and strong values, she instilled these virtues in her family and grandchildren who were the light of her life. Affectionately known to her family as “cat eyes”, her loving heart was enhanced by her lovely smile. She carried on holiday traditions for her family, complete with homemade pasta, and other culinary delights, including her famous Italian honey cookies- a tradition she was proud was continued by her family in her later years. She looked forward to her daily gathering of her Mohawk Street neighbors at McDonalds. She enjoyed the sport of bowling and was a former member of the Pintoplers. One of her favorite pastimes was picking dandelions. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Theresa is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Marie Lubas of Utica, Diane and John Langone of Whitesboro, and Theresa Ann and Michael Licari of Rome; her son and daughter-in-law, Mathew James, Jr. and Joan Zennamo of Utica; and her grandchildren, Jason Patrick Lubas, and Deanna Marie Licari. Survivors also include her sister, Nancy Russo of Utica; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Zennamo, and Edith Langone; and her friends, Marie and Dick Ambruso, and her childhood friend, Flora DeFazio. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Joseph Zennamo; and her brother, Dominick DeMichele. The family holds heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Joseph Booth and all the physicians and staff who attended to Theresa throughout the years. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Theresa’s honor to “Your Neighbors, Inc.” volunteer support service; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Theresa’s funeral service will commence on Monday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
