Mrs. Theresa Marie (Grimaldi) Viti

Mrs. Theresa Marie (Grimaldi) Viti, age 86, was reunited with her husband when she passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on January 7, 1931, Theresa was the daughter of the late Fred J., Sr. and Angeline (Pugliese) Grimaldi. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On October 5, 1950 she married Dominick A. Viti, Jr. with whom she shared 58 years. She was devoted to ‘the love of her life’ in so many ways. Dominick passed away on June 26, 2009. Theresa and Dominick established the Mohawk Bake Shop and were proud that their family joined in the operation of their venture. It was a unique life, co-existing with her husband and their children in a work environment until the couple retired in 1985. In looking back, it was a wonderful and happy life. Theresa’s baking skill was the main ingredient in the success of their business, especially her knack for cookies and cakes topped off with creative decorations. Theresa was a hard-working, sociable, and humble woman; traits not to be seen again. She was a matriarch who loved her family more than anything else. She was thankful for her happy marriage which made her life plentiful, and her children who brought many blessings. She loved each of them for their individual contributions to the family. Theresa loved to cook, and multiple course meals were always on the table without even being asked. Her children miss so many things about her, especially her lasagna, chicken soup, and her love! Theresa was friendly, compassionate, and empathetic to anyone in need, and her home was always open. For relaxation, she enjoyed crocheting and reading Danielle Steel novels. She was currently a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk and also worshipped at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Theresa is survived by her children and their loves, Dominick F. Viti of FL, Theresa “Terry” and David McClouskey of East Herkimer, Regina “Gina” Viti of Ilion, David and Theresa Viti of Plattsburgh NY, Dean and Susan Viti of Keller TX, and Albert A. and Teresa Viti of Carrollton TX. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Dominick’s wife, Harriett “Lori” Viti who passed away on June 16, 2007. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, Keith and April Viti, Dominick Viti; Allison and Eric Brinski; Nichole and Craig Duprey, Christina and Steve Rodriguez; Daniela and Rick McDuffie; Andrea and Robby Perez, Kayla Viti, Dean Viti; and A.J. Viti; and her 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Joanne Grimaldi, Carmen and JoAnn Grimaldi, Dennis and Carolyn Grimaldi, and Marie C. Grimaldi; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, her aunt Grace; and her friends, the original “Ward Road” neighbors. She was predeceased by her brother, Fred J. Grimaldi, Jr.; and her in-laws, Frank and Nancy Viti, Albert and Isabella Viti, Gaspare W. “Casper” and Angeline Viti as well as his second wife, Antoinette Viti. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Guy Wilcox for his personable manner and professional concern, Fr. Paul Catena for his solace and final blessings, and Deacon Jim for his prayers and visit. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00-11:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Theresa’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 noon at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Arthur Krawczenko. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
