Mrs. Theresa M. (Pepe) Perrotta

Mrs. Theresa M. (Pepe) Perrotta, age 67, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving husband and children by her side. Born in Utica on August 14, 1945, Theresa was the daughter of the late Frank, Sr. and Carmella V. (Luciano) Pepe. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 6, 1966 she married Charles Perrotta, Sr. with whom she shared 46 years as partners in love and life. Theresa worked as a Head Cashier at the Great American Grocery Store on Oneida Street, and also served as a bona fide Crossing Guard for the Utica Police Department. At home, Theresa worked at her “other job” as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and lady of the house. She loved and was grateful for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would often lend a hand when needed. She was also strong willed and resolute in her opinions. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially picnics. She had a fancy for playing bingo at Turning Stone Casino where she was known to win quite often. She volunteered at the Clothing Closet at the First Presbyterian Church and would often assist her husband in planning the functions of the Utica Police Auxiliary. Theresa is survived by her husband, Charles; her daughters and son-in-law, Charlene Perrotta and fiancé John Becraft, and Kim and Lenny Ciriaco, all of Utica; her sons and daughter-in-law, Carmine and Tracy Perrotta, and Charles Perrotta, Jr., all of New Hartford; her grandchildren, Renee, Doug, Charles III, Nancy, Breanna, Johnathan, Ryan, Dominick, Wyatt, Alya, and Zack; and her great-grandchildren, Xavier, and Alexander. Her extended family includes many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pepe of Utica; and her many dear and cherished friends who shared their lives with her. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank C. Pepe, Jr., and her friends, Sandra and Joseph Lupa. The family appreciates the nurses and staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center especially those of the Dialysis Unit for all the care, compassion, and attention shown to Theresa and her family. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request please omit floral offerings. Theresa’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
