Tammy R. "Tam" Liggins

UTICA – Tammy R. “Tam” Liggins, age 53, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2022, with those she loved most in her heart. Born in Utica on February 8, 1969, to Jesse Pittman and Dorothy Liggins, Tammy was raised and educated locally, attending Utica area schools. She graduated from Utica Free Academy/Class of 1987. Tammy’s first work tenure was as a Home Healthcare Aid at Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center. After her time there, she held a position at Willow Park. Most recently, Tammy undertook the responsibility of providing loving care to her grandparents. A woman who loved a good time, Tammy was always the life of the party. Though Tammy was very silly in nature, she could also be comforting. Tammy loved to dance. A “tough cookie,” she was strong in so many ways. A natural caregiver, Tammy was always there to help her family. She was always known for putting others’ needs before her own. She was moreover a proud mother who made sure her children were a foremost priority. Tammy had a particularly loving heart. For fun, Tammy loved to play cards as well as watch movies, especially enjoying the Lifetime Channel, the Divorce Court, and a good Jerry Springer show. Additionally, due to her playful nature, Tammy was overjoyed to be around the young ones. Finally, she was a loving daughter who had a special relationship with her parents. Tammy is survived by her father, Jesse Pittman and his wife Norma; her mother Dorothy Liggins; and her paternal grandmother and grandfather, Beaulah and Rudolph Thompson. Tammy will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Vontrice Liggins, and Rae-Shauna Reed; her son, Donald Sims; and her grandchildren, Veniya, Kemon, Carter, Kaiden, and Marley. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters, Lisa Pittman, Taka Reese, and Sham Liggins; as well as her brothers, Terrance “Bernard” Liggins with whom she shared a special bond, Damian Liggins, and Jessie Pittman, Jr. Tammy held close the memory of her brother, Molik F. “Mo” Liggins, who preceded her on August 14, 2020; and the aunts and uncles whom she adored and shared a special with, especially Ruthie Liggins, Patricia Thompson Frazier (Cleon), Diane Blackshear, Michelle Thompson, and Shawntay Thompson. Tammy additionally leaves behind her special cousins, Marlin Liggins, Gary “Poonie” Liggins; and many friends, especially Rose, Andrea, and Patricia. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Tressie Liggins; her uncles, Willie “Murray” Liggins, Willie “Frank” Liggins, Tommy Liggins, and Eddie Brown, Jr.; her nephew, Lemeke Pittman; and her brother, Earl Darnel Hymes. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Tammy’s special friend Mike, for his loving care; to her mom, for her maternal love; and to the staff at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare for their care and professionalism. Special thanks are also given to Tammy’s son, Donald, who was by her side at the time of her passing. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
