Susan M. Turchetti

UTICA – Susan M. Turchetti, age 65, after a valiant effort, went home to the Lord while surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, June 15, 2026. Born in Utica on March 8, 1961, Susan was the daughter of the late Phillip A. and Delores M. (Dolce) Turchetti. She attended New Hartford Central Schools, graduating in 1980. Susan obtained a position at Sturges Manufacturing, where she excelled and quickly rose through the ranks to attain a supervisory position. She loved working for the Griffith family who operated the company, and the 33 years she spent there were truly rewarding to her. Susan was at her happiest spending time in the comfort of her own home, especially when tending to her pool. While she enjoyed the peace and comfort of home, she was also an outdoorswoman who could often be found boating and fishing, hobbies she carried with her from many happy childhood memories. She also enjoyed cruises, particularly to the Caribbean, because she loved relaxing on the open sea while spending quality time with her sister, Barbara, and other travel companions. Those vacations created many cherished memories. Susan was also known to root for the Miami Dolphins, faithfully following the team through many seasons and enjoying the games. Susan gained many of her mannerisms from her mother and faithfully watched the Weather Channel, a habit she carried throughout her life. Family and friends could always count on her to share the latest forecast and let them know what weather was headed their way. A lifelong Catholic, her home parish was that of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Susan is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Gregory Ramsey; nephew, Craig Roman, whom she adored throughout his life; great-nephew, Connor Roman, who was the light of her heart with whom she had a great relationship and enjoyed spending special times with; reflecting upon her life, those were the greatest of blessings for her. She will also remain in the hearts of numerous cousins especially Karen, Savannah, Sydney, Patty, Janis, and Theresa who truly enriched her life. Susan’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Emilee, Cait, Amanda, and Alanis, who became so close to her and cared for her with extraordinary compassion, kindness, and understanding. The family is deeply appreciative of all they did for Susan. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Susan’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay St., Utica. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
