Mr. Stephen J. "Link" Linkiewicz

NEW HARTFORD – Mr. Stephen J. “Link” Linkiewicz, age 69, peacefully passed away in the comfort and dignity of his home on Monday, November 25, 2024. At the time of his passing, he was reunited with his late parents, Stephen and Celia (Majka) Linkiewicz, and his late brother and sister-in-law, Michael L. and Antoinette (Jecen) Linkiewicz, in their heavenly home. Stephen was born in Utica on October 21, 1955. He attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Elementary School and was a graduate of New York Mills High School/Class of 1973. Link married the love of his life, the former Eileen Bick, on June 24, 1983. They met through mutual friends and enjoyed each other’s company from their very first encounter. Eileen was drawn to Link’s sense of humor, and he could always make her smile. The couple considered their daughters to be their greatest blessings. Link worked as an Account Executive for WKTV and later for WUTR TV-20, the position from which he retired. His skills and personality made him a natural in his field, as he was able to create strong connections with his accounts and kept them through his hard work and dedication. Link and Eileen could often be found together, supporting their daughters in all their activities and interests, including dance, musical performances, choir and concert events, JV/V sports, and horseback riding. Link had a true passion for cooking, and it was rare that anyone else in their home prepared a meal. He was all about making everything with fresh ingredients, including his special Polish dishes. Link enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball, baseball, and golf. His love of sports also led him to become an umpire for the Mohawk Valley Umpire Association, overseeing games from little league through collegiate levels. Link took advantage of the local greens at Twin Ponds with his friends whenever he could and had many great rounds with his golf partner, Kevin. A railroad enthusiast, he collected numerous train memorabilia. Link was meticulous with his home and lawn, sharing the bounty of his garden harvest with family and friends. His homemade tomato sauce was a coveted gift. Link’s Catholic faith was a cornerstone to his values, which he shared with and raised his family in. He was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Rosary Campus. Link is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; cherished daughters, Rebecca Linkiewicz and her partner Eric Terwilliger, and Erin Linkiewicz and her husband MacGuire Brooks, and their son, Hudson, who Link adored. His memory will be cherished by his nieces and nephews, Michael II and Jean Linkiewicz, Andrea and Richard Quosig, Mark and Christy Linkiewicz; Tony and Kelly Newell, and Ty Newell; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sydney Linkiewicz, C.J. Linkiewicz, Jake Quosig, Connor Quosig, Sarah Quosig, Gabby Linkiewicz, Max Linkiewicz, Colt Linkiewicz, Maddison Newell, Tanner Newell, Dakota Newell, and Raegan Newell; cousins, godmother, Roberta Jarema, Cynthia Jarema, Richard Majka, Eddie and Lisa Majka, Barbara Jean and Frank LaManna, Mary Claire and Paul Clark, Bev and Don Morrissey, Denise Majka, Bob Firlit, John Firlit, Elaine and George Thompson, Maryann and Mark Evans, Doreen and Stan Kabot, Terry Szelwach, and Celia Fedor; in-laws, Edward J. “Ed” Bick, and Margaretta and Jerry Newell; aunt, Jessie Fiorini; and the “Bick” cousins. Link was predeceased by his father-in-law, Edward J. Bick, and mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Joanne M. (Ingalls) Bick-Barter and Bertram “Bert” Barter. As an animal lover, Link was eager to see his black lab Willey, one of his closest and fondest animal companions in this life. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Manzurul Sikder, and Dr. Scott Brehaut; the doctors, nurses, and staff of A.M.P. Urology of New Hartford; and Joanne Moskal of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. for their care and compassion. A special thank you as well to Robert Morton, Tom Rowlands, Kevin Siembab, luncheon buddies, Steve Ventura, and Dan Acker for their friendship and support throughout Link’s battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Stephen’s honor may be made to the Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish 2024 Hope Appeal online at https://www.motherofoursavior.org or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. online at https://hospicecareinc.org/donate-online; envelopes will also be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Stephen’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Rosary Campus, 1736 Burrstone Rd., New Hartford. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Cemetery.
