Shirley C. (Magee) Fontaine

Mrs. Shirley C. (Magee) Fontaine, age 73, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on March 11, 1935, Shirley was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Isabelle (Geruntino) Magee. She was raised and educated locally. At one time, she was married to Albert “Booboo” Fontaine who passed away on February 9, 1997. A great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Shirley was a friend to all. Fun-loving and vivacious in spirit, she always offered good advice not only to family, but also to many of her family’s friends, some of whom may affectionately remember her as “Grams”. She enjoyed singing and dancing, and during her spare time, she loved to knit. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Shirley is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene Colburn of Utica, Cynthia and Mike Cocomazze of FL, Diane and Anthony Laria of New Hartford, Deborah Fontaine of Utica; and her son and daughter-in-law, Albert J. and Pat Fontaine, Jr. of FL. Always close to her heart was the memory of her son-in-law, Michael Colburn, who preceded her in death. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren, Orlando Caquias, Damien Caquias and Vanessa Pagan, Shirell Cocomazze, Michael Robert Cocomazze, Cortney Laria, Kristen Laria, Santina Rios, and Lori and Mike Salisbury; and her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Jada, Chavez, Shayla, Mike, Chad, Jenna, and Jacob. Survivors also include her sister, Suzanne D’Amore of Frankfort Center; her brother and sister-in-law, James and Roseanne Magee of Utica; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her sisters, Catherine “Kay” DiNardi, Dorothy V. DeSantis, and Mary Jane Brewer; her brothers, Thomas Magee, Robert Magee, and Billy Magee; and her brother-in-law, Joseph D’Amore. Visitation will be held Thursday (today) from 6:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Shirley’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
