Sherry L. Bracken

UTICA - Sherry L. Bracken, age 57, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, with her loving family by her side, after a sudden illness. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on January 28th, 1965, Sherry was the daughter of the late Mary Jane (Silvernail) Tinkler. Raised and educated in the Mohawk Valley, she was a graduate of Utica Free Academy the Class of 1983. She later pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and held that position for over 20 years; it was her true calling. On June 27, 2012 she was wed to Sharon K. Putman. Sherry was very spiritual, kind-hearted, non-judgmental, and always saw the best in people. Because of these traits, her heart and door were always open to people and animals alike. She had a creative, curious mind, and in her spare time enjoyed all sorts of crafts and sewing. Her love of music meant she truly embodied the idea of "dance like no one is watching" and she never missed a moment to bring a little extra silliness and laughter to any situation. She loved to cook, but she truly shined in the kitchen when she was free to experiment and add a twist to classic meals. Sherry is survived by her spouse, Sharon K. Putman; Maryann "Maddie" Deveans, with whom she shared their two beautiful twin children, Joshua A. Bracken, and Amanda M. Bracken (Karleigh Trotta); her sisters, Kathleen Bracken-Jones (Keith Jones) and Bonny Bracken-Babiarz; her nephews, Paul Klotz, Gage Tinkler, Rian Babiarz; and her aunt, Lou Ann Casanova. She is also survived by her "extra" children, Ian Retamar, Tiffany Smith, Antonio Dougherty, Maritza Colon, Kristy Monahan, and Andrea Retamar-Colon (Nina Retamar-Colon) and their three boys. She cherished the memory of her nephew, Jordan Bracken-Howley who passed away in 2013; her mother, Mary Jane (Silvernail) Tinkler who passed away in 2014; and her brother, Randy Tinkler who passed away in 2019. Sherry’s family is grateful to the staff of MVHS at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially Iryna, Frost, and Jessica for their care and compassion. The family will honor Sherry with a Memorial Gathering at on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. A Celebration of Life will be held immediate after at the American Legion Post 26, Main St., Clarks Mills, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions in Sherry’s honor may be made to Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society online at www.anitas-sshs.org/donate; envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
