Sharon K. Putman

N. UTICA- Sharon K. Putman, age 62, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. At the time of her crossing over, her loved ones were close to her heart. Sharon was born on August 19, 1960 to the late Charles and Rita (Pozzi) Putman. She was raised in South Butler, NY, where she attended local schools and subsequently moved to Utica. She was married on June 27, 2012, to Sherry L. Bracken. Their love was built on fun and laughter, and their relationship was spontaneous and energizing. They shared many memories of great experiences and the blessings of family. They were two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. Sherry passed away on July 4, 2022, and it appears that Sharon missed her so much and wanted to be reunited with her once again. Sharon held assembly positions with numerous local companies, including the Utica Cutlery Company. Sharon had a quiet presence, but her orbit was wise when she spoke. Contentious at times, it was her way of entering your space and capturing your attention. Sharon could be known as a stoic woman but she was always a silent guardian. Often she knew how to capitalize on a moment, all could either bust a gut or she'd be a shoulder to lean on. Much of Sharon’s life was spent with loved ones at home. One of her favorite pastimes was to watch horror films from the edge of her seat. She also loved to play cards, especially rummy. She loved and cared for family pets—they were a great comfort and companionship to her. Among those she loved the most, she was known as “Sunshine” and she graciously accepted that nickname. Her marriage to Sherry was a large fulfillment for Sharon’s sense of self. She felt more complete knowing that she had found love and “her person.” Sharon is survived by her son, Terry Dunn; step children the twins, Joshua A. Bracken, and Amanda M. Bracken and fiancé Karleigh Trotta; and their guardian, Maryann “Maddie” Deveans. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Lomire. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Bracken-Jones and husband Keith Jones. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Roger Putman. In keeping with her wishes, Sharon’s family will celebrate her memory privately. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at MVHS at St. Luke’s Healthcare and the staff of Robinson Terrace Rehab. Both facilities assisted Sharon and engaged her in multifaceted ways to encourage her to meet her greatest health expectations.
