Mr. Sebastian "Benny" Lupo, Jr.

UTICA – Sebastian “Benny” Lupo, Jr. went home to the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2023. He was so loved by his family that everyone was praying that when he passed he would see all those who preceded him. Born in Utica on July 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Sebastian, Sr. and Domenica “Mamie” (Sardina) Lupo. Benny was raised and educated in local schools. At one time he held a position at Canada Dry Company. He was a profoundly dedicated son and kept a watchful eye over his family. Benny had the love and guidance of his sister, Carmela, who adored him. His deep faith as a devout Catholic, and a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church/Blessed Sacrament Parish, saw him actively involved in his community, always ready with a heartwarming smile and an ever-willing hand to those in need. Church functions held great significance in his life, with Benny ensuring he was always there to offer his support and assistance. Benny had a genuine love for planting, with a special fondness for vegetables. Though it was hard work, he reveled in the fruits of his labor. His people skills were unparalleled, leading many to recognize this trait as his greatest accomplishment. One of the greatest qualities that Benny possessed was to be a dependable personal assistant to so many people in the Utica community. Holidays brought immense joy to his heart, especially when his niece would host a feast. Benny would take home the leftovers with great joy. Tragically, he was preceded in passing by his dear sister, Carmela M. (Lupo) DiFondi, with whom he shared a profound and gifted relationship, as well as her late husband, Eugene A. “Clark” DiFondi, Sr. He was a wonderful uncle to his niece, Jean O’Connor and Jim Dinehart, and her family, who were his great-nephews and great-nieces, Robert and Sommer O’Connor, Michael O’Connor and Dawn Ryan, Lisa M. O’Connor; Doreen Sollecito, and her son, Peter DiFondi. Deep appreciation is expressed to Bob Pullman, a steadfast friend who consistently advocated for Benny's well-being and ensured his safety. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Prayer Service, which will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. He will be laid to rest alongside his mother.
