Mrs. Saveria "Vera" (Alberico) Grzywacz

Mrs. Saveria “Vera” (Alberico) Grzywacz, age 86, a native of Utica and more recently of East Amherst, NY, went home to the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016. Born in Utica on August 19, 1929, Saveria was the daughter of the late Frank and Felicia (Tomaino) Alberico. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1947 and a graduate of Excelsior Business School. In 1949 she married John P. Grzywacz with whom she shared 67 years as partners and parents. They provided a nurturing home and a good example for their children. Vera worked as a proofreader for Utica Typesetting Company and was later employed by the MetLife Insurance Company in the Dental Claims Department. Vera was giving, loving, and kind. She supported and encouraged her children in all their endeavors and offered her wisdom and love in guiding them to make the best choices in life. When her children were in school, she was involved in the Parent/Teacher Association and the Fife and Drum Corps. She was proud of her family and they were the most important part of her life. Vera also valued her heritage and honored traditions. She had an interest in reading and an ability to remember information and images in great detail. Her hobbies included arts & crafts which she taught at the Cosmopolitan Center and loved making clothes. Vera held a spiritual reverence for her Roman Catholic beliefs. Her Lord surrounded her heart and was her main source of solace. Vera is survived by her husband, John “Grizzy”/Retired UFD; her, 3 sons, John “Grizzy” of Chicago, Brian (Cyndy) of Sauquoit, and Aaron and fiancée Rosalie Bosco Achen with her son Corey of South Florida; and a daughter, Mrs. Loraine (John) Readling of Buffalo, NY. She held close to her heart the memory of her baby, Kenneth, who passed away in 1955. She will also be remembered by 3 grandchildren, Luke Readling, Hannah, and Emily Grzywacz. Her extended family includes her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and William Welch. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Vera’s Mass of Christian burial was held in Williamsville, NY. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
