Santina B. "Tina" Federico

UTICA – Santina B. “Tina” Federico, age 85, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. At the time of her passing, her loving family was by her side. Born in Utica on September 26, 1939, Santina was the daughter of the late Carmen, Sr. and Margherita (LiVolsi) Federico. She was a proud graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1957. Tina began her career in 1958 when she accepted a position as Key Punch Operator at Griffiss Air Force Base. Her final role with the company was in the Depot Supply Room, from which she retired in 1994. Tina devoted her entire life to the love of her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She cherished family gatherings during special events and holidays, where good times were shared by all, and many fond memories were created. A fun-loving woman, she enjoyed playing cards, particularly Bingo and Rummy. Tina was an avid shopper, and her weekly hair appointments were paramount to her fastidious nature. She also loved indulging in her favorite Italian delicacies, especially her beloved spaghetti. A devout Catholic, Tina was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, where she received all her sacraments. Tina is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Josephine “Jo” and Bill Stathes, and Margie DeCesare; and brother and sister-in-law, Carmen, Jr. and Barbara Federico. She held close to her heart the memory of her sister, Mary Ann DeCarlis, who preceded her on November 29, 2020. She further leaves her memory to her brother-in-law, Dr. Pasquale DeCarlis; 21 nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging Lynn Latella for the never-ending attention she gave to her Aunt Tina; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins; and her dear friends, Donna Seiselmyer, and R. Victor Stewart. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Masonic Care Community of NY, particularly the staff of Wiley Hall, especially Barbara Baron, Barbara Harvey, and MaryAnn Nicotera for their care and compassion. Thank you as well to Tina’s fellow residents at Wiley Hall for their love and friendship, and to Nurse Manager Betsy Kurdziolek of the Troy Household. They also wish to express their sincere appreciation to her doctors, Atul Butala, MD, Tanya Marr, PA, and Becky for their expertise and dedication, as well as the nurses and staff at the MVHS Infusion Center, especially acknowledging Wendy, and Debbie. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Santina’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay St. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Entombment will take place in Christ Our Savior Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
