Mrs. Sandra H. "Sandy" (Thrasher) Kane

Mrs. Sandra H. “Sandy” (Thrasher) Kane, age 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Born in Utica on December 18, 1950, Sandra was the daughter of the late Frank and Jane (Makuchooski) Thrasher. She was raised and educated locally. On June 30, 1973 she married Donald “Don” E. Kane, Jr. with whom she shared more than four decades of love and lasting memories. Sandy held various employment positions locally, most notably at DeIorio’s Bakery, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and lastly, Dari-Del Dairy, a position that awarded her many loving friendships. As a matriarch, Sandy was a fantastic mom. She was an outgoing woman, always trying to please others while placing her own needs last. More than anything else, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. They were “her world”. Christmas was the most beloved holiday for Sandy, and her family will always treasure the Yuletide memories she made so special every year for everyone. She also loved her canine companions, especially favoring her German Shepherds. She also appreciated the beauty of dolphins. She was an avid New York Yankees fan. Sandy was of the Catholic faith. Sandy is survived by her husband, Donald; her sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel “Danny” W. and Shelly M. Kane of Frankfort, and Don “Donny” E. and Audrey Kane of Utica; and her grandchildren, Samantha Fabbio, Brandon Kane, Amanda Alfred, Jordan Kane; Emily Kane, and Hailey Kane. She will also be remembered by her sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Misiaczek, and Frances and Pat DeRosa, all of Utica, and Patty Alsante of Whitesboro; her brother, Frank “Junior” and Doris Thrasher of Clinton; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many in-laws, and members of the Manino family. She was predeceased by her brothers, John Thrasher, Wayne Thrasher, and Thomas Thrasher; and her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Frank Woods. The family is grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center for their care and professionalism. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Sandra’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Anthony LaFache. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
