Sandra M. (Castelli) Corridori

Mrs. Sandra M. (Castelli) Corridori, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the support of her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on November 27, 1939, Sandra was the daughter of the late Phillip and Esther (Dwyer) Castelli. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1957. On November 7, 1970 she wed Patrick “Pat” Corridori with whom she shared 42 years in a marriage graced with common values and regard for each other, setting a great example to the generations that followed. If you closed your eyes to remember Sandra, you would hear unforgettable laughter and an amazing and genuine sense of humor. She was a confident woman, a wonderful mother, and an even better grandmother. Their family home at Sylvan Beach was Sandra’s haven. It was a little piece of heaven in nature’s bounty of beauty and peace. And the door was always open with hospitality. Sandra is survived by her husband, Pat; her sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Angela Valeriano of Frankfort, Philip and Terese Valeriano of Baldwinsville, and Patrick and Gina Corridori of N. Utica; and her grandchildren, Alaina Valeriano, Aleese Valeriano; Danielle Valeriano, Vincent Valeriano; Patrick Corridori, and Gino Corridori. She also leaves her sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Catera, and Karen and George Mender, all of Frankfort. Sandra was blessed with the love of her niece, Cheryl Cristallo, who was like the daughter she never had; and many wonderful friends, especially acknowledging Kathy Ulrich, Marge Scharf, and John Nole. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis “Ish” and Joseph “Click” Calicchia; her brother-in-law, Michael Catera; her in-laws, Doris and Alexander “Luxy” Karathnas, and Marie and Salvatore DePalma; and her close friend, Amy Hanson. The family gathered at a private time to commemorate Sandra’s life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the service.
