Salvatore M. "Sal" D'Amico Jr.

Mr. Salvatore M. “Sal” D’Amico, Jr., age 85, currently of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Florida Medical Center with the love and support of his family. Born in Utica on September 24, 1928, Salvatore was the son of the late Salvatore, Sr. and Josephine (Testa) D’Amico. Raised and educated locally, he graduated from T.R. Proctor High School and attended M.V.C.C. where he earned his Associates Degree. A veteran of the United States Army, Sal honorably served his country from 1946-1948. On July 1, 1950, he married the former Angela M. Paciello with whom he shared 59 years in a beloved union focused around family. Angela passed away on April 7, 2010. For almost 40 years, Sal worked as an engineer with the General Electric Company where he distinguished himself as a hard worker, detailed and structured in his projects. At home, he was a loving father and became a proud and happy grandfather and great-grandfather with the arrival of his descendants. His professional skills were applied at home as Sal was often called upon to help construct or offer his masterminding assistance as the go-to person when something needed fixing. He was an avid sports fan and, above all, championed the teams of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the company of his friends and peers at the NY Mills and Whitesboro Senior Centers. Sal is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Donald S. and Patty D’Amico of New Hartford, Daniel R. and Leslie D’Amico of Tamarac, FL, and David M. and Margo D’Amico of Plantation, FL; his grandchildren, David and Malea D’Amico, Ryan and Tara D’Amico, Dana and Tom Ingerson, Daniel and Kelly D’Amico, Joseph D’Amico, Raymond Puma, Michael D’Amico, Derick D’Amico, and Diana D’Amico; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Julia, Christopher, Lukas, Leah, Camden, and Evan. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Roberts of Utica; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, Marie Pandolfo, and Daniel and Theresa Paciello; and many dear and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Anthony Pandolfo, Jr. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be considered to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, in lieu of flowers; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Sal’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. Committal services and Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum with Military Honors conferred.
