Sally (Baryla) Wileczka

Mrs. Sally (Baryla) Wileczka, age 92, of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on March 10, 1917, Sally was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sophie (Neroda) Baryla. She was raised and educated locally. On June 24, 1939 she married Stanley W. Wileczka with whom she shared 44 years prior to his passing on March 1, 1984; theirs was a union blessed with love and respect. Caring for her family and home occupied Sally’s life and made her heart content. An independent woman, she travelled and took pleasure in camping and spending her summers at the St. Lawrence and winters in St. Petersburg, Florida. During her spare time she enjoyed playing cards with her husband, family, and friends. She volunteered for many years at the Presbyterian Home and was a member of the New Hartford Young at Heart Club. She was a former communicant of Holy Trinity Church. Sally is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary M. and Rosemary A. (Grasso) Wileczka of New Hartford, and Jack S. and Donna Wileczka of Punta Gorda, FL; her grandchildren, Michael and Laura Wileczka of New Hartford, Kathy Kyle of Punta Gorda, FL, and Kaaren Wileczka of Worcester, MA; and her great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Tucker. Survivors also include her sister, Veronica “Virgie” Powers of Clinton; several nieces, with special mention of Patricia Powers, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Arthur Slattery; her brothers and sister-in-law, Henry and Mary Baryla, Walter, and Chester Baryla; and her brothers-in-law, Thomas Powers and Alex Wileczka. The family is grateful to the nurses and staff of the St. Luke’s Home, Barton West, and Dr. Pourushasp Dhabhar for all the care and attention extended to Sally. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request please omit floral offerings. Memorial contributions may be considered to the American Heart Assn. or the American Diabetes Assn.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Sally's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
