Rosemary J. (Torchia) Kauth

Rosemary J. (Torchia) Kauth, age 72, of North Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at University Hospital in Syracuse as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Her family was by her side at the time of her passing. Born in Utica on September 21, 1935, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Peter and Amelia V. (Coromato) Torchia. She was raised and educated locally and was a 1953 graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. Rosemary worked as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward in the linen department. Next she held a position at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. retiring in October 2007. The matriarch of her family, she endowed her children with the ideas of family togetherness and shared and celebrated so many wonderful holidays, vacations, and everyday activities with her loved ones. Her grandchildren were her second blessing and greatest of joys, and she especially loved the celebration gatherings, when she would play pokeno with them. She had an outgoing personality and was blessed with many wonderful family members and friends. A passionate and dedicated shopper, she spent special and memorable times with her cousins pursing bargains and enjoying their company. She also had a knack for decorating, especially her home, and she had an affinity for fashion. She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church. Rosemary is survived by her children and their spouses, Francis P. Kauth of Utica, Sharon and Michael Giruzzi of Marcy, Deborah and Larry Guido of Whitesboro, Michael Kauth of Utica, and the father of her children, Francis F. Kauth of Cold Brook. Survivors also include her cherished and much loved grandchildren, Michael J. Giruzzi, Jr., Nicholas John Giruzzi, Samantha Guido, and Alexandra Guido; her cousins, with whom she shared a close relationship; her friends, Mary Anne Nolan, Jackie Guido, Carmella Giruzzi; and her longtime neighbors, all of whom had a special place in her heart. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the New York State Police, Troop D Marcy Barracks, the Maynard Fire Dept. EMT’s, the personnel of Kunkel Ambulance, the Emergency Room staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, the staff of University Hospital. All of these wonderful people assisted in ways that were touching and exceptional. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Rosemary’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be offered on Saturday morning at 9:30 at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd. in North Utica. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
