Rosemarie Alice (Montany) Peters

NEW HARTFORD - Rosemarie Alice (Montany) Peters was born on October 12, 1930 in Malone, N.Y. She always said, “On October 12th Columbus discovered America and my mom discovered me.” Rosemarie died at the age of 92 on Monday, January 2, 2023. She was predeceased by her father, Louis Joseph Montany; her mother, Maria Alicia Tracy Montany; her brother, Erwin Louis Montany; her husband, Bernard John Peters, Jr.; and her son, David John Peters. As a young girl, Rosemarie loved to snow ski and go to the movies. When she was 8 years old she was featured on a local calendar in her ski outfit with her skis in hand; she cherished that picture. Every weekend she and her best friend, Arlene Swayze, would spend an entire day at the movies. And, it was through Arlene that she met the ‘love of her life’, Bernie Peters. Bernie built Rosemarie a house in Fort Plain, N.Y. where they raised their three children. Both Rosemarie and Bernie were devout Christians. The Church was the center of their lives and continued to be until they died. Rosemarie always did what she could to help others. She was a Foster Parent, visited and gave gifts to residents of nursing homes, and wrote countless letters to the forgotten. She was a renowned pie baker and made pies for family, friends, and neighbors. Rosemarie loved God. She loved her family. She loved to help others. She loved Christmas and she loved to laugh. Among those who will miss her are her two daughters, Linda Peters McMillen Dininger, and Alyce Peters Crossman Winkworth; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three nephews, and one niece. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home Inc., 932 South Street, corner of Hammond Ave. Rosemarie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation. For those unable to attend, Rosemarie’s services may be attended virtually at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82328937348. A meal is offered to those that wish to attend, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fort Schuyler Club, 254 Genesee St, Utica. Donations can be made, in Rosemarie’s name, to the Utica International Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1134 Herkimer Rd., Utica, NY 13502; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. A special thank you is extended to all the medical personal and friends that cared for Rosemarie over the years, including but not limited to: Dr. Fred Talerico; Dr. Ronald Kaye; Dr. Lorna Grant; Dr. Affaf Munir; the staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center; the staff at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center; all her special friends like Mary at the Clinton Manor, or Becky at the church, who would drive her to appointments and stores; and Randy who would take her out to eat.
