Rose A. (Ciufo) Visalli

Mrs. Rose A. (Ciufo) Visalli, age 75, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. Born in Tufo Di Minturno, Italy on July 24, 1931, Rose was the daughter of the late Henry and Maria (Rasile) Ciufo. She settled in the United States with her family in 1947. On July 1, 1950 she married Natale N. Visalli with whom she shared 47 years until his passing on December 17, 1997. As a couple, they cherished their loving and mutually supportive union. A woman with a hard work ethic, Rose was most recently employed by the Utica City School System in the Food Service department at T. R. Proctor High School prior to ill health. In reflecting upon Rose’s life, she was proud of her Italian heritage, cooking, and music. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she sang with Il Coro Italiano. Rose especially loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Anne Society, and a former patron of the Sons of Italy Lodge. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Antoinette and Richard McDermott of FL; her sons and daughters-in-law, Nicholas A. and Sandra Visalli of Floyd, and Henry “Hank” and Kayci Visalli of Deerfield; her grandchildren, Michael N. and Catherine Visalli, US Air Force 2nd Lt. Stephen M. and Tabitha Visalli, Patrick and Jennifer McDermott, Jeffrey McDermott, Heather Visalli, and Joshua Visalli; and her great-grandchild, Sean Patrick. Also surviving is her sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Michael Forte of CT; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Kathleen and Douglas Tinklepaugh of Canastota. She was predeceased by a brother. The family extends thanks to the medical staff members of the Heritage Health Care Center. Visitation will be held Tuesday (today) from 4:00 – 7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Rose’s honor to the American Diabetes Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Rose’s funeral service will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish at Mt. Carmel Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
