Rosario James "Jim" Garcia

Mr. Rosario James “Jim” Garcia, age 70, of New Hartford, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, with his loving family by his side. A lifelong Utican, Jim was the son of the late John and Margaret (Esposito) Garcia. On April 5, 1967 he was united in marriage with the former Linda LoGalbo with whom he shared 39 years. Mutual admiration and love were the bonds of their relationship, and Jim forever held in his heart an abiding respect for Linda. Jim was a man of substance and integrity. With his quiet demeanor, he provided continuity in the lives of his wife and family, and a secure and stable household. As a parent, he was a fine example of all that was right and just. For Jim, the gatherings by the kitchen table were the best of times. A man of hope and faith, he was accepting, appreciative, reflective, strong, and committed, and during his illness he maintained his dignity. With strength of will, he was a man of little fear. His hope, faith, and sense of peace sustained him. He was a parishioner of Mt. Zion Ministries. Jim is survived by his wife Linda; his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and John Ungaro of SC; his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Shonna Garcia, and James and Diana Garcia, all of Utica; and his adored grandchildren, Taylor Ungaro, Keith Ungaro, Clarissa Bosco, and Arayla, Lorenzo, and Carmella Garcia. Also surviving are his sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara “Bobbie” Bonanza of New Hartford, and Judith “Judy” and John D. Melito of Utica; his mother-in-law, Marion LoGalbo; his in-laws, Dianne LoGalbo-Stratton, and Dominick LoGalbo; his Aunt Rita Esposito; and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, especially the members of the Sacco family with whom he shared a great closeness. Jim was favored with the support and friendship of Steve and Loretta Szczygiel, and Carmen and Angela Nicotera who visited often; and his lifelong friends, Dominick and Philomena Pedulla. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Anthony LoGalbo; his brother-in-law, Thomas N. Bonanza; and his sister-in-law, Betty LoGalbo. The family wishes to thank Jim’s physicians, Dr. Lance Brownstein, Dr. Mihailia and Physician Assistant Pam Kirsh, of University Hospital, and Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., especially Roseanna, Irene, and Nadine. The family is also grateful to the leadership and members of the Mt. Zion Ministries for their friendship and kindness during this time. Thanks also to Paula Torchia for her daily visits and concern, Allan Sloboda for his true friendship and courtesies, and Marilyn of Village Floral for her many gracious acts of kindness. Visitation will be held Friday (today) from 3-6 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Mr. Garcia’s honor to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., or the Compassion Coalition Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jim’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home at the conclusion of visitation. Rev. Rick Andrew from Mt. Zion Ministries will officiate the ceremony. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
