Ronald E. Roberts

Mr. Ronald E. “Ron” Roberts, age 69, of North Utica, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with his loving family by his side. Ronald was born in Utica on November 19, 1941, the son of the late Ted and Molly (Williams) Roberts. Raised and educated locally, he attended Utica Free Academy. On October 7, 1961 he married the former Mary S. Mosca with whom he shared a peaceful home, parental pride, and profound love; Ron and Mary celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. At the age of 19, Ron began his career with the United States Postal Service, the position from which he retired in 1997 after 37 years of service. A friendly, sociable man, meticulous in appearance, Ron enjoyed the company of his friends. He was an intelligent, perceptive person, and his dependability and position as provider to his family were a great source of accomplishment to him. Time spent with loved ones was priceless, especially at weekend picnics and any other occasions that brought family together. Ron rejoiced in the simple things in his life, like walking around the neighborhood with his dog, or watching sports events on television. Over the years, he served in the capacity of chief steward of the Utica area local American Postal Workers Union and held a membership with the American Legion Post 229 on Herkimer Road, and the American Legion Ft. Schuyler Post 1290. Ron is survived by his beloved wife Mary; his children and their spouses, Donna and Bruce Clark of Remsen, Kim Crawford of Utica, Ron and Shari Roberts of Whitesboro, Cindy Ambrose and fiance Micky Maunz of Utica, and Tammy and Greg Barton of Remsen; his grandchildren, Sara, and Corey Clark; Chloe, and Dylan Crawford; Ryan, Cody, and Lindsay Roberts; Amanda Lang; Dominick and Amanda Ambrose, Chelsea Ambrose; Molly, and Abby Barton; and his great-grandson, Dominick Ronald Ambrose, Jr. In addition, he leaves his sisters, Norma Neenan, and Verna Teator, both of New Hartford; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Danielle and Fred Kowalczyk of Hamburg, NY; and brother-in-law, Joe and Linda Mosca of Marcy. He was predeceased by William “Bill” Neenan, and Ralph Teator. The family sends heartfelt thanks to the 6th floor staff and 1 West nursing staff at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for the compassionate and supportive care rendered to Ron and his family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Ron's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum.
