Mr. Robert C. Zammiello

Robert C. Zammiello was a man for all seasons. He was a musician and teacher in his early adult years, a successful financial advisor in his prime and a solitary woodsman in his later years. Bob loved his home and its surroundings where he passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014. Born Robert Charles “Bob” Zammiello, he was the son of the late Charles and Julia Zammiello. He lived in Herkimer, NY as a young man and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1953. He then attended and graduated from Fredonia State University in 1957. Robert was a member of the NY State Army Reserves. In the summer of 1958, Bob married Darlene Keith. They had five children together and later divorced. After teaching instrumental music in Guilderland and Syracuse, he studied and became involved with the financial world. He started his business career with Mutual of New York and became their “Man of the Year”. Later he settled in Philadelphia starting his own business, RC Zammiello Associates. Like his father, Robert was a successful entrepreneur. Finally, in his latter years, Bob became a woodsman. He settled in his paradise, Cleveland, NY. There he enjoyed the wood-splitting, maple sugaring, and the flora and fauna of the region. He returned to his enjoyment of boating on Oneida Lake as well as the solitude and inner peace provided by his home and its surroundings. Bob leaves his children and their families to mourn their loss. They are, Patrick R. and Deborah Robinson of Clarkston, Michigan and their children Jordan E. Mrosewske of Arizona, and Laney Robinson of Michigan; Nina and Bill Le Clair of Akron, Ohio and their children Elora Toews, and Maggie Le Clair, both of Ohio; Terry A. and Allyn Doan of Auburn, NY and their children Sara M. Doan of Alexandria, Virginia, and Trevor Doan of Auburn, NY; Simone and Drew Graham of Summerville, South Carolina and their children, Jacob and Bethany Garbini of Charlotte, North Carolina, Austin Graham of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Frankie Mansfield of Mouth Pleasant, South Carolina, and Sam and Isabella Graham of Summerville, South Carolina. Bob also leaves his two sisters, Carolyn A. Spanfelner and her children Christopher J. Spanfelner of Boca Raton, Florida, Joseph T. Spanfelner of Vorheese, New Jersey, and Julie M. Spanfelner of Utica; Charlotte L. and Rocca Gaeta and their children Gregory M. Gaeta and Julie McCarthy, and Cheryl A. and R. J. Bateman, all of Utica. He also leaves several cousins and friends. Bob was predeceased by two sons, Charlie Zammiello, who passed away in infancy and Robert Keith of San Rafael, California. We know that Robert would like to thank the people of Eddie’s Restaurant at Sylvan Beach for their care and hospitality. Also, we would like to extend our appreciation to Peter and Carolyn Rich for their friendship and support to Bob and his family during this difficult time. A Memorial Gathering in Bob’s honor will take place on Saturday afternoon from 2–3 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Bob’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday at 3:00 at the funeral home immediately upon the conclusion of the Memorial Gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to Spring Farm Cares or the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
